והוה בארבע מאה ותמנן שנין למפק בני ישראל מארעא דמצרים בשתא רביעתא בירח זיו ניצניא הוא ירחא תנינא לממלך שלמה על ישראל ובנא ביתא קדם יי:
yy qdm bytha wbna yshral el shlmh lmmlk thnyna yrkha hwa nytsnya zyw byrkh rbyetha bshtha dmtsrym marea yshral bny lmpq shnyn wthmnn mah barbe whwh
In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house.

וביתא די בנא מלכא שלמה קדם יי שתין אמין אורכיה ועסרין פותיה ותלתין אמין רומיה:
rwmyh amyn wthlthyn pwthyh wesryn awrkyh amyn shthyn yy qdm shlmh mlka bna dy wbytha
The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits, and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.

ואולמא על אפי היכלא דביתא עסרין אמין אורכיה על אפי פותיא דביתא עסר אמין פותיא על אפי ביתא:
bytha apy el pwthya amyn esr dbytha pwthya apy el awrkyh amyn esryn dbytha hykla apy el wawlma
The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.

ועבד לביתא כוין פתיחן מלגיו וסתימן מלברא וחפן כלינסא בית אנחת רישי שרית ארזיא:
arzya shryth ryshy ankhth byth klynsa wkhpn mlbra wsthymn mlgyw pthykhn kwyn lbytha webd
He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.

ובנא על כתלי ביתא זיוא סחור סחור להיכלא ולבית כפורי ועבד מחיציא סחור סחור:
skhwr skhwr mkhytsya webd kpwry wlbyth lhykla skhwr skhwr zywa bytha kthly el wbna
Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.

מחיצתא ארעיתא חמש אמין פותיה ומציעתא שית אמין פותיה ותליתיתא שבע אמין פותיה ארי נפקתא עבד לביתא סחור סחור לברא מן מחיציא למהוי רישי שריתא ניחין על זיזיא ולא יהוין שריתא מעברן בכתלי ביתא:
bytha bkthly mebrn shrytha yhwyn wla zyzya el nykhyn shrytha ryshy lmhwy mkhytsya mn lbra skhwr skhwr lbytha ebd npqtha ary pwthyh amyn shbe wthlythytha pwthyh amyn shyth wmtsyetha pwthyh amyn khmsh areytha mkhytstha
The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

וביתא באתבניותיה אבנין שלמין מטקס אתבני וארזובין וחולילין כל מאן דפרזל לא אשתמע בביתא באתבניותא:
bathbnywtha bbytha ashthme la dprzl man kl wkhwlylyn warzwbyn athbny mTqs shlmyn abnyn bathbnywthyh wbytha
The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.

תרעא דמחיצתא ארעיתא פתיח לעבר ביתא מימינא ובמסבתא סלקין מן ארעיתא לעיליתא באורח מציעיתא:
mtsyeytha bawrkh leylytha areytha mn slqyn wbmsbtha mymyna bytha lebr pthykh areytha dmkhytstha threa
The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.

ובנא ית ביתא ושכלליה וטליל ית ביתא בהנתוכין ועילא מנהון סדרא דרכפת רישיה שריתא ארזיא:
arzya shrytha ryshyh drkpth sdra mnhwn weyla bhnthwkyn bytha yth wTlyl wshkllyh bytha yth wbna
So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

ובנא ית תיקא על כל ביתא חמש אמין רומיה וטליל ית ביתא בעאי ארזיא:
arzya beay bytha yth wTlyl rwmyh amyn khmsh bytha kl el thyqa yth wbna
He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם שלמה למימר:
lmymr shlmh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Yahweh’s word came to Solomon, saying,

ביתא הדין די את בני אם תהך בקימי וית דיני תעביד ותטר ית כל פקודי למהך בהון ואקים ית פתגמי עמך די מלילית עם דוד אבוך:
abwk dwd em mlylyth dy emk pthgmy yth waqym bhwn lmhk pqwdy kl yth wthTr thebyd dyny wyth bqymy thhk am bny ath dy hdyn bytha
“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.

ואשרי שכנתי בגו בני ישראל ולא ארחיק ית עמי ישראל:
yshral emy yth arkhyq wla yshral bny bgw shknthy washry
I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”
14
ובנא שלמה ית ביתא ושכלליה:
wshkllyh bytha yth shlmh wbna
So Solomon built the house and finished it.
15
ובנא ית כותלי ביתא מלגאו במחיצת ארזיא מארעית ביתא עד כותליא עד מטי שמי שריתא חפי נסרין דארזא מלגיו וחפא ית אושי ביתא במחיצת בירון:
byrwn bmkhytsth bytha awshy yth wkhpa mlgyw darza nsryn khpy shrytha shmy mTy ed kwthlya ed bytha mareyth arzya bmkhytsth mlgaw bytha kwthly yth wbna
He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.

ובנא ית עסרין אמין מסיפי ביתא במחיצת ארזיא מן אושיא עד כתליא ובנא ליה מלגיו לבית כפורי לקודש קודשיא:
qwdshya lqwdsh kpwry lbyth mlgyw lyh wbna kthlya ed awshya mn arzya bmkhytsth bytha msypy amyn esryn yth wbna
He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.
17
וארבעין אמין הוי ביתא הוא היכלא לקבליה:
lqblyh hykla hwa bytha hwy amyn warbeyn
In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.
18
ונסרין דארזא חפי ביתא מלגיו וגלף חיזו ביעין ואטונין שושנין כל ביתא חפי נסרין דארזא לית אבנא מתחזיא:
mthkhzya abna lyth darza nsryn khpy bytha kl shwshnyn waTwnyn byeyn khyzw wglp mlgyw bytha khpy darza wnsryn
There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.

ובית כפורי מגו ביתא מלגיו אתקין למתן תמן ית ארון קימא דיי:
dyy qyma arwn yth thmn lmthn athqyn mlgyw bytha mgw kpwry wbyth
He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of Yahweh’s covenant there.

וקדם בית כפורי עסרין אמין אורכא ועסרין אמין פותיא ועסרין אמין רומיה וחפהי דהבא טבא וחפא מדבחא נסרין דארזא:
darza nsryn mdbkha wkhpa Tba dhba wkhphy rwmyh amyn wesryn pwthya amyn wesryn awrka amyn esryn kpwry byth wqdm
Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.

וחפא שלמה ית ביתא מלגיו דהבא טבא ואעבר בשלשלן דדהב קדם בית כפורי וחפהי דהבא:
dhba wkhphy kpwry byth qdm ddhb bshlshln waebr Tba dhba mlgyw bytha yth shlmh wkhpa
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.
22
וית כל ביתא חפא דהבא עד דשלים כל ביתא וכל מדבחא לבית כפורי חפא דהבא:
dhba khpa kpwry lbyth mdbkha wkl bytha kl dshlym ed dhba khpa bytha kl wyth
He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.
23
ועבד בבית כפורי תרין כרובין דאעי זיתא עסר אמין רומיה:
rwmyh amyn esr zytha daey krwbyn thryn kpwry bbyth webd
In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
24
וחמש אמין כנפא דכרובא חד וחמש אמין כנפא דכרובא תנינא עסר אמין מקצת כנפוהי ועד קצת כנפוהי:
knpwhy qtsth wed knpwhy mqtsth amyn esr thnyna dkrwba knpa amyn wkhmsh khd dkrwba knpa amyn wkhmsh
Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.

ועסר אמין כרובא תנינא משחא חדא ועברא חד לתרין כרוביא:
krwbya lthryn khd webra khda mshkha thnyna krwba amyn wesr
The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
26
רומיה דכרובא חד עסר אמין וכן כרובא תנינא:
thnyna krwba wkn amyn esr khd dkrwba rwmyh
One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub.
27
ויהב ית כרוביא בגו ביתא גואה ופרסו ית כנפי כרוביא ומטיא כנפא דחד בכותלא וכנפא דכרובא תנינא מטיא בכותלא תנינא וכנפיהון לגו ביתא מטיא כנף לכנף:
lknp knp mTya bytha lgw wknpyhwn thnyna bkwthla mTya thnyna dkrwba wknpa bkwthla dkhd knpa wmTya krwbya knpy yth wprsw gwah bytha bgw krwbya yth wyhb
He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house.

וית כל כותלי ביתא אקיף ציורין וגלף קליען כרובין וצורת דקלין ואטונין שושנין מלגיו ולברא:
wlbra mlgyw shwshnyn waTwnyn dqlyn wtswrth krwbyn qlyen wglp tsywryn aqyp bytha kwthly kl wyth
He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside.
30
וית אושי ביתא חפא דהבא מלגיו ולברא:
wlbra mlgyw dhba khpa bytha awshy wyth
He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside.
31
ולתרע בית כפורי עבד דשין דאעי זיתא אלהי וספוהי מטקסין:
mTqsyn wspwhy alhy zytha daey dshyn ebd kpwry byth wlthre
For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.

ותרתין דשין דאעי זיתא וגלף עליהון קליען כרובין וצורת דקלין ואטונין שושנין וחפא דהבא ונסיך על כרוביא ועל צורת דקלין ית דהבא:
dhba yth dqlyn tswrth wel krwbya el wnsyk dhba wkhpa shwshnyn waTwnyn dqlyn wtswrth krwbyn qlyen elyhwn wglp zytha daey dshyn wthrthyn
So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.
33
וכן עבד לתרע היכלא ספין דאעי זיתא מן ארבעה סטריהון מרבעין:
mrbeyn sTryhwn arbeh mn zytha daey spyn hykla lthre ebd wkn
He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,

ותרתין דשין דאעי ברון תרין צירין דדשא חדא סגלגלין ותרין צירין דדשא תניתא סגלגלין:
sglglyn thnytha ddsha tsyryn wthryn sglglyn khda ddsha tsyryn thryn brwn daey dshyn wthrthyn
and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
35
וגלף כרוביא וצורת דקלין ואטונין שושנין וחפא דהבא מכבש על צורתא:
tswrtha el mkbsh dhba wkhpa shwshnyn waTwnyn dqlyn wtswrth krwbya wglp
He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.
36
ובנא ית דרתא גויתא תלתא סדרין דאבן טבא וסדרא חד דמריש אעי ארזיא:
arzya aey dmrysh khd wsdra Tba dabn sdryn thltha gwytha drtha yth wbna
He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams.

ובשתא רביעיתא שרי לאשתכללא בית מקדשא דיי בירח זיו נצניא:
ntsnya zyw byrkh dyy mqdsha byth lashthklla shry rbyeytha wbshtha
The foundation of Yahweh’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.
38
ובשתא חדא עסרי בירח מיסף אבביא הוא ירחא תמינאה אשתכלל ביתא לכל גזרתיה ולכל דחזי ליה ובנהי שבע שנין:
shnyn shbe wbnhy lyh dkhzy wlkl gzrthyh lkl bytha ashthkll thmynah yrkha hwa abbya mysp byrkh esry khda wbshtha
In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.
